Run Bike

Are you trying to teach your child how to ride a bike?  Are you frustrated with training wheels that just don't hold up as well on your child’s bike?  I too tried this route of buying a regular children’s bike and putting training wheels on the bike.  But I found that the wheels did not hold up to the strain and weight of my child.  I always had to adjust the wheels, constantly tightening the nuts and realigning the wells so that the bike would not tip over.  My child also had a problem with hitting his legs on the peddles when his feet fell off.  Don't get me started on him stopping.  He could not get the concept of pushing the peddles backwards to stop the bike so I always had to be right behind the bike to help him stop.  I found this to be too much and I thought to myself, there has to be a better way to teach my child how to ride a bike.  Then I found a run bike on the internet.

Run bikes are not very popular in the United States.  But they are hugely popular in Europe and sounding countries.  The concept of a run bike is that the peddles are removed from the bike and the rider pushes the bike forward or backwards to move the bike.  Their feet are always near the ground so there is no need for training wheels.  Removing the peddles and the training wheels help children to learn balance even faster because that is all that they are concentrated on.  They are not worried or bothered by peddles snapping back as they try to put their feet up.  They are not even worried about how the breaks work.  They are left with a pure ride provided by a run bike.

Run bikes are not for everyone.  They are designed for children between the ages of birth and five years old.  If your son or daughter is older than these ages then they have to settle for a normal bike.  That being the case three to five year old children will get the most benefit from run bikes.  Three to five year olds are in a development stages that will allow them to take to these bikes.  They will also provide confidence and reliance as your child get the hang of their run bike.

Are Run Bikes Safe

Run bikes are very safe.  The main makes of run bike, Kettler, Skuut, smart, wishbone, and strider take the act of putting together safe and functional balance bikes very serious.  With most of these companies that is all that they concentrate on.  So, they would not want to damage their reputations by putting out bikes that are unsafe.

There are also other precautions that should be taken when your child is riding their run bikes.  But the most important one is that your child should be wearing a helmet.  No matter how much engineering a company may do a child still can do things on bikes that are unexpected.  And during those unexpected moments do you want to be caught off guard or allow your child to be caught off guard.
