We need everything yesterday and on wheels! So if it’s a hairdo or a hair color – we often don’t pause to consider the long term consequences of the measures we sometimes use to achieve desired effects and appearance.
Here are some handy hints that you might want to consider implementing to achieve a vibrantly healthy growth of hair:
First off it must be some words of warning:
- Do your best to use natural methods and products on your hair. If you must use chemical products - limit it as much as possible. If you are perming or relaxing your hair keep it to a minimum.
- Avoid spending too much time in chlorinated pool water without a cap. If you are compelled to spend time in a pool make sure you rinse your hair out properly with normal water to clear the chlorine. The same goes for having a dip in the ocean. Wash out salt thoroughly when you are done.
- Hair dryers and hot tools are not the best to be used on the hair. Often a hurried appointment or important event will require you to blow dry your hair – but as much as able, the best way to dry is to do it naturally
- If you need to color try henna which is a natural product and is good for hair. If you are going ahead with chemical dye use one which is without ammonia. Use olive oil as a base to protect the hair.
- Use a scarf or hat to protect your hair from excessive sunshine that dries it out. Braiding or tying your hair in a knot also protects it from the sun.
Taking the moderate path or altogether avoiding these practices as much as possible. Additionally for bath times you can consider these guidelines:
- Find out about the ingredients contained in your regular shampoo. Even if you feel you like the effects it produces it might contain harsh composites that could have long term negative effects.
- The best kinds of conditioners are the ones you can spray and leave on since they find their way right in to your hair roots and produce a healing effect.
- Keep you hair regularly washed and clean, but don’t overdo it by washing every day. Daily washing of hair especially if it is long, can dry it out excessively and you lose essential oils.
- Do not wash your hair with hot water. If you must use warm water use colder water for the final rinse to seal in the moisture.
- Avoid drying your hair any way but naturally, and then don’t rub the towel too vigorously. Gently blot and pat the hair.
- Don’t brush or comb when wet.
Keeping your hair naturally tended and nourished is the best way to maintain the health and vitality that your hair badly needs to make it look special. It takes a little extra effort to incorporate these tips in to your routine but is quite worth while when you feel the difference in your hair.
